Pair Of Aces Stables Horsemanship Academy

Our academy program is open to riders of all levels, age 6 and up - including adults! Whether you are a complete beginner, looking to enroll your child into a healthy, positive sport, wanting to improve existing riding skills, or pick up a new sport as an adult, our academy can help you reach your goals.

Our academy provides a comprehensive educational experience, while maintaining a fun, supportive and engaging atmosphere. We maintain a positive team-building culture, a structured curriculum and quality instruction.

Our aim is to develop strong, independent riders whose knowledge goes well beyond riding. Horsemanship is taught from the ground up, and our students will have the opportunity to advance through the academy levels as they learn.  Skills taught range from riding, to in-hand work, competitions, equipment knowledge, equine husbandry, basic veterinary care, and so much more.

FAQs

do we need our own horse or tack?

No! We will provide the horse, and all the necessary tack for the horse.

What do i need to bring to my first lesson?

Just yourself! Please wear comfortable, snug fitting but stretchy pants such as breeches or thick leggings. You will also need to wear a boot with a defined heel such as a paddock boot - cowboy boots are fine for your first few lessons too. We will have some brief paperwork for you to sign, and a helmet for you to borrow.

do lessons continue during inclement weather?

Yes! Unless it is unsafe to be at the barn (severe winter weather, or smoky air) lessons will be held. If the weather is too severe for mounted work, we will take that opportunity to work on unmounted skills instead. There is so much to learn, that we never run out of things to teach - both on and off the horse.

i’ve decided to commit to regular lessons - What clothes or other items do I need?

You will need a comfortable pair of breeches, and riding boots. We recommend paddock boots and half-chaps to all of our riders starting out. Tall boots are recommended for riders who are teens or older.
